A Typical Wedding Day

Every wedding day unfolds differently, however, below is a guide to how we typically work throughout the day to ensure your film and photographs feel seamless, natural and thoughtfully captured.

For a typical 2pm ceremony, coverage would usually begin from around 10am.

Morning Preparations

With the Coastal Collection, we capture both sides of your story, spending time with the bridal party and groomsmen as you get ready.

From the quieter moments and final details to the laughter, excitement and anticipation building throughout the morning, we gently document everything as it naturally unfolds. We’ll also take time to capture your venue, styling, florals and decor before your guests arrive.

Throughout the morning, we’ll photograph and film natural interactions, along with relaxed bridal and groom portraits where appropriate. Nothing is overly staged, we want you to feel comfortable and simply enjoy being present in the moment.

Guests Arrive & Your Ceremony

As your guests begin to arrive, we capture the atmosphere and anticipation leading into your ceremony.

If your ceremony is taking place within a church or religious venue, we kindly ask that you check with the venue beforehand to ensure professional cameras are permitted during the service. We will also meet with your officiant beforehand so we know where we can capture the ceremony from, while remaining respectful of the setting.

Confetti & Family Photographs

Following the ceremony, we usually allow you both a few quiet moments together while your guests gather outside. It’s a chance to pause, take a breath and let the reality of being married sink in before we move into your confetti moment.

You’ll then make your way through your guests as they shower you with confetti. We’ll encourage you to stop a couple of times along the way, giving us the opportunity to capture those beautiful, joyful moments, including a kiss beneath the confetti.

Once the confetti has finished, we’ll gather your guests for your larger group photograph before moving through your family group shots. We work from the larger groups down to your closest family members, allowing guests to naturally filter through to the drinks reception once their photographs are complete.

This means that by the time we reach your closest family, most of your guests can head off and begin enjoying the celebrations, while those nearest and dearest remain with us until last.

Once your formal photography has concluded, we may also take a little additional time with the two of you to create a few cinematic moving shots for your final film.

We recommend keeping these family group images to around 10-12 as we will capture everyone else as the day unfolds, these photos shopuld be completed within 10-15 minutes.

Drinks Reception

From here, coverage naturally flows into your drinks reception.

This is where we step back and focus on the atmosphere of your day, candid conversations, laughter, hugs, drinks being poured and all those little interactions that make your wedding uniquely yours.

Forget we’re there. Catch up with your friends and family, enjoy your first moments as a married couple and let us quietly capture it all as it happens.

Wedding Breakfast & Speeches

As the afternoon continues, we document elements of your wedding breakfast, capturing the room, table details and atmosphere alongside the natural moments happening around you.

We’ll also capture your speeches, from the anticipation beforehand to the laughter, tears and reactions that make them so memorable.

Evening Celebrations

As your day moves into the evening, we continue capturing the atmosphere before documenting those important final moments,  including your cake cutting and first dance.

For most weddings, coverage concludes at approximately 8pm, unless additional evening coverage has been arranged.

If you’re planning any special moments such as fireworks, sparklers, surprise performances or additional entertainment, please let us know ahead of the wedding day. This allows us to plan accordingly and ensures nothing important is missed.

A Note About Catering

As we are present throughout the majority of your wedding day, a supplier meal is greatly appreciated but absolutely not essential.

If catering will not be provided, please let us know in advance so we can make suitable arrangements allowing us to remain on site throughout the afternoon and evening.

Our role is to be there quietly, thoughtfully and unobtrusively, capturing the moments as they naturally happen so that when you look back on your film and photographs, you can remember not just how your day looked, but how it felt. We make all the plans ahead of the day so that we can allow you to be fully present in the moment.
